Emergency Travel Document
Emergency Certificates are issued for one-way travel to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana only, and are valid for one month from the date of issue.
The following categories of persons are eligible to apply for an Emergency Certificate:

Guyanese nationals who have lost their Passport and are required to travel to Guyana urgently

Guyanese nationals who hold expired Passports and are required to travel to Guyana urgently

Guyanese nationals who have less than six months validity in their current Passport and are required to travel to Guyana urgently

Guyanese nationals who requested a new passport through the Consulate but need to travel to Guyana urgently

Guyanese nationals who are being repatriated to Guyana
Requirements to obtain an Emergency Certificate:

Completed Emergency Travel Document application Form (Form can be uplifted from the Consulate free of charge)

Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs, dated and stamped

Expired Passport or Passport with less than six months validity

Birth certificate or Permanent Resident Card

Travel ticket or itinerary from travel agent to confirm date of travel

Fee – $40.00 CND, cash or money order made payable to the Consulate General of Guyana
Important Guidelines

Emergency Travel Documents are not issued to persons travelling to Guyana for vacation purposes.

Guyanese travelling on emergency or planning to travel outside of Canada in less than 12 weeks, without six (6) months validity on their passports are advised to contact the Guyana Consulate immediately on telephone number +1 (416) 494-6040 Ext. 22 to speak with a Consular Officer. Additionally, persons who wish to re-enter Canada are required to produce a valid passport containing a valid Canadian visa/permanent resident card to re-enter Canada.
