Notarisation of Legal Documents
The Consulate notarises legal documents such as:

Verification and Notarization of Documents
The Consulate also verifies the authenticity of the following documents before they are notarised:
- Medical Leave
- Job Letters
- Invitation Letters
- Birth, Adoption/Marriage and Death Certificates issued in Guyana
- Drivers Licence issued in Guyana
Requirements for Notarization of Documents

A type written copy of the document must be submitted to the Consulate

Completed documents must be signed and witnessed in the presence of a Consular Officer

The appearer must submit a valid form of Identification (Passport, Drivers Licence, National Identity Card) as proof of identity.

Fee – $30.00 CND per document, cash or money order made payable
to the Consulate General of Guyana
N.B: Notarisation of documents is done between the hours of 9:00am – 3:00pm Monday-Thursday and 9:00 am – 2:30 pm 0n Friday and the processing time is two (2) hours.
Witnessing of Signatures for Banks in Guyana
The Consulate witnesses signature (s) for bank transactions in Guyana. The person conducting the transaction must produce a valid photo identification as proof of identity. The Consulate will not notarise any signature if valid photo identification is not presented.
Witnessing Signatures for Authorization Letters.
The Consulate signs as witness to signature(s) for authorization letters authorising a representative in Guyana to conduct business on behalf of a person who resides in Canada and cannot travel to Guyana for reasons beyond their control. These documents include:
- Authorization for a parent/guardian who resides in Guyana to apply for and uplift a passport for a minor who resides with the other parent/guardian in Guyana
- Authorization to install Water Meter and Electricity
- Authorization to register Motor Vehicle Licence
- Authorization for minor to travel with parent/guardian
- Authorization to renew Business Licence
- Authorization to renew Weapon Licence
- Authorization to apply for Tax Payers Identification (TIN)Certificate
